Badass Lady Boss: Jessica Peraza

"I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch. You’ve got to go out and kick ass." - Maya Angelou

Women supporting women. I’m about it, if you’re reading this then you should definitely be about it, quite frankly, we should all really be about it. So, today, in honor of being about it, I present to you my first blog in a series of never-ending blogs called “Badass Lady Boss.” I want to highlight badass women who are doing badass things in order to inspire, motivate, and empower everyone who is reading.

I couldn’t be more excited to share my first ever Badass Lady Boss with you all. She is a young woman, who I am personally very inspired by, and who you all need to know about. This woman is incredibly funny and outgoing and in my opinion she truly embodies everything that I believe a Badass Lady Boss is. She is currently a storm in the YouTube community, with over 68,000 subscribers, where she posts videos dedicated to lifestyle and beauty and she is definitely someone that I religiously watch. I present to you- Jessica “Yessi” Peraza.

Jessica Peraza is a YouTuber from Las Vegas who has been making videos for a couple years now. She truly hustles like no other, which is one of the many things that I admire about her, and it is so evident in all of her videos. In plenty of videos, Yessi has touched on her life growing up and how it was not always easy for her family. However, with hard-work her family has been able to do well for themselves and I think that it is clear that she has that same mentality because she has literally built her audience from the ground up. All of these things are what makes Yessi a Badass Lady Boss.

I would like to give a huge thank you to Yessi as I was fortunate enough to talk with her and ask her a few questions that were centered around her career, her motivations & her overall opinion on things relating to being a Badass Lady Boss. I am truly in awe of her hardwork and I admire the badass woman she is. Be sure to check out her videos (definitely subscribe, I promise it’ll be the best decision you make all day) and follow her on all of her social platforms (linked below).

Check out what Yessi had to say about being a Badass Lady Boss:

Me: What inspired you to first start making videos & actually taking social media seriously?

Yessi: What first inspired me was watching Bethany Mota’s YouTube videos! She would put so much effort into all of them & each one was fresh & entertaining! I loved her vibe and the positive messages she was spreading to young girls. I loved the giant, positive community she was able to build with her subscribers and I dreamed of doing the same thing! The fact that you can connect with an endless number of people around the world is insane to me, but obviously not impossible so I went for it!

Me: What are some things you wish you knew prior to becoming a social media influencer?

Yessi: Before making videos myself, I never understood why YouTubers would post videos about them feeling depressed and having social anxiety and feeling alone. I thought “how can you feel alone when you have hundreds of thousands supporters around the world?” I never would have thought that doing social media would be lonely. In fact, I started doing it to feel the complete opposite. But, you’ll notice that often times (not always) strangers are more willing to support your dreams, than the people you consider “close” to you in your life. It can be a lonely grind sometimes.

Me: Are there any lady bosses out there that inspire you? If so, who?

Yessi: Definitely! Liza Koshy is one FOR SURE! Her heart is so pure and her soul is so kind, yet she’s the funniest human being I’ve ever seen! She started out just like us as a regular girl, wasn’t born into money or anything, and built her fame off of making people laugh! I can’t tell you the countless amount of times she’s made me laugh, and I wouldn’t rather spend my time any other way than laughing!

Me: Do you have any advice for lady bosses out there who might want to up their social media game & make a career out of doing what they love?

Yessi: I’d advise anybody who wants to start doing ANYTHING to just start. Don’t wait to get a new camera, don’t wait to get lights, a new microphone, a new this or that. There are endless ways to make your video more high quality in a technical sense. But, people don’t follow you and remember you because you have perfect HD quality, they remember your personality because they feel something good every time they see your posts and uploads! Think about it like this… if you were to watch a Coca Cola commercial and the actor in the commercial was some random guy, but he was doing crazy adventurous things, and driving a nice care in the commercial, would you be more inclined to enjoy the commercial/buy Coca Cola with the random guy doing cool stuff, or if it was your FAVORITE blogger just doing their thing, being themselves with Coca Cola? I’m sure you’d enjoy the commercial with your favorite vlogger way more. It’s about personality.

Again, I just want to give a huge thank you to Yessi. Her answers definitely motivated me and I hope all of you feel the same.
